Swimming

First class aquatic facilities

The swim program at Western Golf & Country Club dates back to 1952 when the first pool was built at the club. The original pool was redone and upgraded in 1997.

For almost 60 years an extensive aquatic program has been a part of the total club experience here at Western. By offering programs like these, it demonstrates Western’s commitment to making the club a place for the entire family.

Western’s pool is a six lane, 25 meter long structure, with a shallow area for young swimmers. There is also a separate toddler pool with a fountain. In the main pool there is a ½ meter diving board in the deep end of the pool.

Lounges, tables, chairs, and umbrellas are provided for the comfort of the members and their guests.

During all open swim hours the club provides lifeguards to ensure the safety of those people using the pool.

The premises also include a bathhouse with showers, lockers, and the swim office providing towels, information and guest registration.

The immediate area also includes a playscape for young children to play. This structure was donated in 1997 when the pool was rebuilt, by Mr. Woody in memory of his wife.

The pool area includes a snack bar with indoor and outdoor seating.  Swim attire is permitted in this area when dining, as opposed to a different dress code in other areas of the club.

The Western swim coaching staff leads the Western Swim Team and provides swim instruction for all ages and training needs.   The pool is in high use during the summer months with swim practice, open swim and swim lessons filling most days!
